Trust · escrow · disputes
Every money-match platform says it is safe, so here are the mechanics instead: your stake sits in escrow — not our account — from the moment a match is accepted, the winner takes the pot minus a flat 10%, draws refund in full, and disputes freeze the funds until an admin rules on the evidence. Below: how each of those works, a checklist for vetting any site in this space, and the things Locked cannot claim yet.
Yes, with the caveats a new platform should state out loud. Locked is a working skill-based competition platform: stakes move into escrow when a match is accepted, the winner receives the pot minus a flat 10% fee, drawn matches refund both players in full, and disputed matches are held until an admin reviews the evidence. The minimum stake is $2.50, deliberately low enough to test the whole loop — deposit, match, win, withdraw — for the price of a coffee.
The caveats: Locked is young, the player base is small, and no third-party auditor has reviewed the escrow ledger. Those are real limits, and no amount of confident copy changes them. The honest recommendation is the one we would give about any platform holding your money for the first time — run a small match, withdraw the proceeds, and scale your stakes to how that went.
In escrow, tied to that specific match. When both players accept, each stake leaves each player's wallet and moves into a locked balance neither side can spend, withdraw or claw back mid-match. That is the structural reason a money match is not a handshake bet: nobody can refuse to pay after losing, because the money already left their control before the match started.
Before the match
In your wallet
Yours to withdraw. Nothing is locked until an opponent accepts.
Match accepted
Moved into escrow
Both stakes leave both wallets into a balance tied to that match. Neither player can touch it.
Result confirmed
Released to the winner
Winner is credited the pot minus the flat 10% fee, available immediately in-wallet.
Reported draw
Refunded in full
Both stakes return to both wallets. Locked takes no fee on a drawn match.
Disputed result
Stays in escrow
Funds are frozen until an admin reviews both players' evidence. 24-hour review target.
The match enters dispute resolution and the escrowed stakes stay frozen. Both players upload evidence — a screenshot of the final score, or video of the match — and an admin reviews it against the published game rules, with a 24-hour review target. Repeat offenders are banned and can lose escrowed funds.
The part worth knowing before you stake, not after: for several rule claims — custom formations, legacy defending — video evidence is required for the claim to be considered at all. Record your matches. The player without a recording is usually the player who loses the dispute, on every platform in this space, not just this one.
A flat 10% of the total pot, deducted once from the winner's payout, regardless of who wins. There is no bookmaker, no odds and no house position — Locked is not on the other side of your match, it is the escrow and the referee. The arithmetic is fixed and you can check it before you play:
| Stake each | Total pot | Winner receives | Locked keeps |
|---|---|---|---|
| $2.50 | $5 | $4.50 | $0.50 |
| $5 | $10 | $9 | $1 |
| $10 | $20 | $18 | $2 |
| $25 | $50 | $45 | $5 |
Account creation, deposits and withdrawals are free on Locked's side. A drawn match costs nothing at all — both stakes are refunded in full and no fee is taken.
Seven questions, in the order they cost you money. They work on this site and on every competitor — if a platform makes any of the first three hard to answer, that difficulty is the answer.
We ran this checklist across eleven platforms, including ourselves, in the Players' Lounge alternatives comparison — including the places where competitors beat us. And the same checklist applied to the category leader, with every rating linked to its source and no verdict from us, is in is Players' Lounge legit?
Trust pages usually list only the reassuring facts, which is exactly why they are not very reassuring. Here is the other column:
New players get their first deposit matched 100%, up to $25 in bonus — put in $25 and you play with $50 — and the conditions travel with it everywhere we mention it: a $5 minimum deposit, 3× playthrough on the bonus before it can be withdrawn, a 7-day expiry, and new players only. Nothing is hidden in a separate terms document, which is the entire point.
Full breakdown of each condition and why it exists is on the welcome-offer page, and you can take it at the WELCOME5 claim link.
The full match lifecycle is on how Locked works, the fee math at every stake is on pricing, and the deposit limits, self-exclusion and help resources are on responsible play. Ready to test the loop with a small stake? Play EA FC, Madden or NBA 2K for money.
This page describes how the Locked platform operates and is not legal or financial advice. Skill-gaming rules vary by state and change over time; you are responsible for confirming what applies where you live. Only stake money you can afford to lose.
Creating an account is free. Both entries sit in escrow until the match is over, and the pot goes to the winner. No bookmaker, no house edge.
