Same match, different setup. What FC players call a wager — two players putting money on their own 1v1 — is what LCKD runs as a money match. A wager arranged in a Discord or Facebook group usually runs on trust: if the loser doesn't pay, there is rarely anyone to appeal to. The word needs one caveat, because the law uses it more narrowly. The federal UIGEA defines a “bet or wager” as staking something of value on “the outcome of a contest of others, a sporting event, or a game subject to chance”, which fits betting on a match more naturally than playing in one. LCKD is built as a skill-based contest rather than a wager in that sense: equal stakes, a result decided by the two players, and the same 10% whoever wins. Yes — under its new name. EA's football series stopped being called FIFA after FIFA 23; the same game has shipped every year since as EA Sports FC, starting with FC 24 in 2023. A “FIFA money match” today is an EA FC money match: on LCKD you play EA Sports FC 27 and EA Sports FC 26 1v1, both players stake the same amount from $2.50, and the winner takes the pot minus a flat 10%.

One practical check before you deposit anywhere: see which edition a site actually runs. Pages still advertising FIFA 23 cups are pointing at a game several editions old, and two players can only meet on the edition they both own.

Both: EA Sports FC 27 and EA Sports FC 26. EA Sports FC 27 opened in early access on 18 September 2026 and went on general release on the 25th. Money matches run as Online Friendlies or Ultimate Team Friendlies, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with EA's crossplay rules deciding who can face whom.

Pick the edition when you create the challenge — the two titles run on separate servers, so an EA FC 26 player can never accept an EA FC 27 challenge, or the other way round. That is why both stay live instead of everyone being switched over on release day: listing only the new edition would hide half the players, not merge them. The winner always takes 90% of the combined pot, whatever the stake. The minimum entry is $2.50 per player; maximum stakes scale with your account level. The fee never changes — a flat 10% of the pot at every level, deducted from the winner's payout. There are no draws: a match that ends level is replayed in full until someone wins, and a cancelled match returns both stakes in full with no fee taken.

Rematch the player you just played. Any finished match can be run back at the same stake against the same opponent in one tap — from the match page when it ends, or from Play again on your dashboard. Your stake locks when you send it and the new match starts once your opponent accepts. It is the fastest route to a second match, because the slow part of a money match is finding someone at your stake, on your edition, who is free right now — and a rematch already has all three.

A rematch stays inside the franchise. If a newer EA FC edition is out and you have both already played it, the rematch comes preselected on it; otherwise it opens on the edition you just played, the one you both proved you own. Nothing changes about the money side. Your LCKD account and wallet aren't tied to a game title, and the rules — equal stakes, escrow, flat 10% fee on the pot, instant crediting on a confirmed result — are identical for every supported game. Challenges are created per edition, so as players move to EA FC 27 their matches move with them, and the ones still on EA FC 26 keep playing each other in the meantime. Nobody is locked out of the lobby for not having upgraded, and nobody has to wait for the rest of the lobby to upgrade.

Your edge carries over too. Mechanics shift between releases — pace, defending, meta squads — but game-sense, positioning and decision-making transfer. If you are winning money matches late in a title's cycle, expect a short adjustment window on the next one, not a reset.
